What are Medicare Savings Programs in South Dakota?

Medicare Savings Programs are state-administered programs that pay Medicare premiums for people with limited income and resources, and in the case of QMB pay deductibles and coinsurance as well. In South Dakota you apply through the Department of Social Services at dss.sd.gov. Social Security can also start the application for you when you apply for Extra Help.

Add those together and a Medicare Savings Program is frequently worth several thousand dollars a year, which is why it is worth the paperwork even when it feels like a long shot.
